We exist to advocate and promote a healthier environment, job creation, financial independence, safety and neighborhood revitalization.
Increase the number of resident owned businesses, particularly African American and Low Income residents.
Establish a Special Service Area (SSA) known as the Northside Cultural Business District.
Organize business and other resources to create jobs for youth and prepare them for careers in STEM.
Establish a Minority and Women Business Development Center.
Preserve existing housing and develop new housing to accommodate all levels of income and special needs
Encourage owners to reinvest in their properties
Establish partnerships with property owners to build new affordable housing
Provide intervention services for home-owners facing foreclosure, and provide financing and pre-purchase counseling for new home-owners.
Develop health and wellness programs that meet the expressed needs of the Northside neighborhood.
Involve residents from the community in Urban Gardening Programs.
Increase the number of food retail options in the northside.
Give greater access to healthy food options.
Neighborhood plans are the road map to help residents and neighborhood leaders identify where the neigborhoods should go in the future. The 2018 Northside Neighborhood plan has updated recommendations, goals and short term actions.
At three community meetings residents defined immediate actions for a specific corridor area called the Northside Cultural Business District. This plan was adopted into the Master Plan.
